Empowering Women Through Writing; And a Few Good Men and Much More When We Work Together

Why does it take so long to learn even when we already have experienced the worst. It is almost like simple mathematics. One and one is two, two and two is four, so on and so forth we continue until there is a mistake. A miscalculation. Now hard to fix for the numbers are too great. We don’t have the time. Don’t want to be bothered. Let someone else do it. It’s not my problem. No one will notice. There are always so many excuses when the minor becomes a major problem. Same with writing, the misspelled letters or misplaced words can create all kinds of havoc and confusion too. Many years ago, women were not taught to read or write. Even now, in some countries the female might be forbidden to learn skills that will limit them for the rest of their lives. That is difficult to comprehend. It wasn’t always a sexist thing, but a status or cultural issue. Imagine the waste of a good mind, that is excluded because of being female or their status or heritage. Slowly, years and years of growth, learning, accepting, and understanding the importance of knowledge as well as the need to know how to read and write, we discover there is nothing we can’t learn. The word and the world is our oyster. Our safety net that inspires and doesn’t limit capabilities, intelligence, abilities or skills  to become qualified in your area of interest, and so much more. It is so exciting when we learn that the importance of life is for everyone to grow knowledge and acceptance.

Can you imagine being limited in knowledge? You are at the mercy of your master, even though he or she might be a cracker jack, crackpot or one of those. Forced to do their bidding. Or they want what is yours to be theirs. A “mercenary” given power is a dangerous thing. Life is a conquest for them, wanting control, always wanting more and what isn’t theirs. They don’t see or feel the regrets of their actions. For what they have learned through life without ever having to be responsible but entitled. He or she was never taught consequences or the outcome of not caring, right or wrong, or cause and effect. To be the perpetrator or the healer or philosopher of life, with knowledge and understanding, we make better choices.

To be a female is a wonderful thing, an entity, a presence to behold, a present valued, a gift to all when we are at our best and give our best. We are nurturers, wise and with a heart that can lead and teach with love. An inspiration energized from living and giving life. We watch over and take care of our babies, children, family and friends. The world around us expands to our neighbors and community where we travel, work, play or take the day off. We strive to be our best. Knowing the importance of staying healthy in mind, body and spirit. And we are grateful. It’s innate that we have a partner in life, complimenting our differences that are drawn to share together. The men in life are valued, the supporter, the strength, a rock in character and determination. Not letting anything or anyone get in the way of his goals or family giving a reason and purpose. But, in today’s world we have misplaced values and confusing times. Demands too great and inequity are set in place at a rapid pace meant to catch off guard anyone willing or vulnerable. Man-made problems became profitable, even created to profit themselves. Spilling out the rhetoric, “If women aren’t working, they aren’t contributing.” To make a statement like that is so irresponsible and doesn’t have a clue of all that is involved in taking care of family and their home. Sounds like another form of planned obsolescence that changed everything and not for the better. Jobs displaced and replaced to accommodate some wealthy person or people, who didn’t have a clue of all the responsibilities involved. Now everyone is overloaded for inadequate pressure being overworked and underpaid. For the first time in American history, more women work outside the home than the average man. We paid the price on that one. To this day, those who made these golden parachute rules are wealthier than ever. While the majority were sacrificed, working harder than ever. All the necessities became the profitmaker after the crash of our economy. The designer rules took hold and wouldn’t let go. The thing is, the family was broken, not appreciated, struggling big time from another huge disconnect.

Women and men, husbands and wives , we all need to work together. Appreciate each other. Recognize that your strengths are your gifts, and encourage the best part of you to come through in those tough times. It does get better when you understand the big problem that once was small, but simmered almost out of control. Let’s don’t let that happen.

Empowering women through writing works wonders for men too. There are many reasons to write creatively, informatively, documenting experiences or projects in a more humane way that becomes a timeline to understanding, bringing a clearer picture. An interesting  way to leave a legacy of your life or family life. We all want to know who we are, where we came from, was it ordinary or extraordinary. Maybe even lighthearted, fun filled adventures or misadventures. Conquering our fears, to becoming masters of our fate or destiny, even our own independence. We can make anything possible or be the catalyst for another time. We all have our own reasons to write. And they are all good reasons, sometimes great reasons. It’s a stepping stone to understanding who we are. To fulfill dreams, goals or ideas that keep popping in your head. That usually is a sign to yourself of the importance of exploring. Journaling is a great way to start. Or maybe, you know what you want or need to write already. That is a great way also. In that block of time, when you are in that contemplative state of mind, or simply mulling over the events of the day, week or year. But, you just can’t get it out of your head. Put it all down on paper or go to your computer, start a series, be sure to press save, so you don’t lose your writing. Watch it grow, into something so worthwhile. A start of a treasure for yourself and sometimes for others.

Recently, since the pandemic and now another cautious time, I have been reading my earlier books. Time has passed. I found myself wanting to read “my books  almost out of curiosity. Was this a good book? Was it worthy of my expectations? I put my book on my nightstand to read a few pages or chapters before sleep. I never really took the time to read my books  or really see or understand why I had to write. It was like another part of my destiny. This one to be fulfilled. I found myself, at times immersed. Going back in time–feeling as if. I was almost there. I would sometimes have to re-read that passage. Reliving experiences that at one time was a precious moment or too profound to ignore. What do I leave in? What should I leave out? To let the sands of time play out or not. It seemed I had a greater understanding of my life. That left me with peace. I knew my reason to write and now my purpose is even greater. For we keep learning. Sharing our knowledge and experiences for the good of all. To be inspired.

“When we write, we get to the heart of the matter. Things fall in place and the understanding will appear. That is when we learn.”
